#074; there’s no accounting for taste (2009)

December 30, 2009

Rather than pretending to be an authority on any subject or fandom, I’ve decided to simply to a series of posts that encompass my favorites of 2009, rather than the ‘best of’ anything in particular. My Favorite… New TV

“There is nothing ironic about show choir!”

Vampire Diaries
“Dear Diary, today will be different. It has to be. I will smile, and it will be believable. My smile will say, “I’m fine, thank you. Yes, I feel much better.” I will no longer be the sad little girl that lost her parents. I will start fresh, be someone new.”

My Favorite… Newly discovered TV

Dr. Who; Greek

“I’m a Time Lord. I’m the last of them. They’re all gone. I’m the only survivor. I’m left traveling on my own because there’s no-one else.”

“It’s the end of the world, Cap. What are you gonna do?”

Disappointing… New & Old TV

Gossip Girl; The Beautiful Life; Grey’s Anatomy

My Favorite… Movies

(500) Days of Summer“This is a story of boy meets girl.”

Star Trek; Twilight Saga: New Moon“You know, going back in time, changing history… that’s cheating.”

“Time passes. Even when it seems impossible. Even when each tick of the second hand aches like the pulse of blood behind a bruise. It passes unevenly, in strange lurches and dragging lulls, but pass it does. Even for me.”

He’s Just Not That Into You
“You’re my exception.”

Inglourious Basterds
“I’m Lt. Aldo Raine. These are the Basterds, ever heard of us?”

Watchmen; Push
“God damn I love working on American soil, Dan. Ain’t had this much fun since Woodward and Bernstein.”

“There are special people in this world. We don’t ask to be special. We’re just born this way. We pass you on the streets every day, unnoticed by most.”

Grizzly Bear’s Veckatimest is incredible. I am still trying to figure out the musical writing behind it when I listen to it. One of my favorite 2009 albums was Blind Pilot’s 3 Rounds and a Sound–worth a listen if you like indie folk.

Brian, thanks for stopping in! I’ll definitely have to check out Blind Pilot! From what I can see online at the moment, they’re right up my alley, thanks for the rec!

(And btw, your tweets have me absolutely dying to hear the stuff you’re working on with Mallen! You’ll have to let us know loud and clear when it’s available).
